Welcome of the guests on the 30th of November at the startup event in the ECDF Fraunhofer FOKUS

Startups meet Fraunhofer

On the 30th of November, researchers from the Berlin Center for Digital Transformation presented technologies and solutions from the areas of IoT, 5G, Industry 4.0 and Hardware for Cyber Physical Systems to around 120 founders and startups in a „tech marketplace“ in the rooms of the Einstein Center Digital Future.

At seven technology information booths, the invited startups were able to inform themselves about „contactless human-machine interaction“, „smart maintenance“, „sensors in additively manufactured components“, „public IoT platform“, „open IoT fog.org“, a „sensor kit“ and a „hardware development environment“. The Fraunhofer experts discussed with the guests how they can help innovative founders with the further development of their product or service.

The event was opened by Jürgen Diller, Head of the branch office of the Berlin Center for Digital Transformation, and interesting lectures from the digital economy: Jasmin Skenderi from Next Big Thing AG, Dr. Christian Herzog of Berlin Partner GmbH and Ralph Steidl, Founder and CEO of Portabiles HealthCare Technologies GmbH.

The guests were also given the opportunity to get to know the TechBridge program by Fraunhofer Venture, which selectively supports Fraunhofer startup projects.

The Berlin Center for Digital Transformation is a cooperation of the Berlin Fraunhofer Institutes FOKUS, HHI, IPK and IZM. The goal is the development and provision of practical solutions for digital transformation. Research is being conducted on basic and cross-sectional technologies as well as on solutions for four specific areas of application: Tele-medicine, mobility and city of the future, industry and production as well as critical infrastructures.

The project TechBridge by Fraunhofer Venture aims to bring together startups and Fraunhofer institutes to initiate joint projects or to expand existing projects. Through joint projects, startups gain access to Fraunhofer's technologies, expertise and infrastructure, enabling them to develop and bring their solutions into the market faster. Fraunhofer institutes gain access to innovative business models from the startup ecosystem and get the chance to get to know agile commercialization partners for their technologies. The collaboration can be initiated quickly and easily, thanks to the financing of the first steps in cooperation by TechBridge.

For 2018 further events of the Berlin Center for Digital Transformation and Fraunhofer Venture are planned in Berlin.
